As most of you probably already know, Megaupload has been shut down. How does this affect this community? Well, almost all the stuff I posted is already mirrored on Mediafire. I just have to get rid of all the MU links and reorganize the entries a bit. (Here's hoping Mediafire won't be the next one to close :P).

However, the real problem here is reuploading all the anime episodes, that were hosted only on MU. Mediafire doesn't allow files bigger than 200mb, so I'll have to find another file sharing site. I guess I'll wait to see how the situation evolves, though, as many sites are closing right now. Also, my connection is not exactly fast (one hour to upload a 300mb episode), so I don't know if and when I will be able to reupload everything. There are lots of other places where you can get anime episodes, though, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, I think.

On a final note, I'm not going to close membership or anything like that. I don't think the FBI is interested in this small community, and locked posts wouldn't stop them anyway, LOL.

I don't use direct download with anime series. I read all your comments about them and, after checking other sites for more opinions, use a torrent client instead. You're like my... personal checker cause we have similar tastes XDDDDD

Thank you (and sorry for crappy crappy english @^_____^@ ).

Oh, I'm glad to hear that! I don't share tons of stuff, just the things I like, so it's good when I can get other people interested in them, too. :D

And don't worry about your English, it's not my first language, either, ;)

Or another site that hasn't been hit yet but would allow files bigger than 200 mb is Multiupload, but then again IRC works just fine too.

Thanks for the info, I'll try that out. Anyway I guess I'll have to wait that everything cools down a bit.

Thanks for the heads up! I never download anime directly and would rather torrent instead, so I was here for the novels and miscellaneous stuff. I'm glad you managed to have the mediafire mirrors. They have a notice that they won't be closing like MU did, since they never gave incentives for uploading pirated content.

Good luck on the episodes, though.

It´s a good idea to wait until things cool down. I have things in MF, but I prefer to wait and see how it goes, instead of deleting them. :)
Anyway good luck in your extra work. :)

I just wanted to say I really appreciate the effort you've gone through to re-upload everything and even considering alternatives for episodes. Thanks so much. ♥

If the file limit is a problem, you can always use HJsplit to split up the files into two (or more) pieces and then have people use the program to join them back together. Might be an option you might want to look into. XD
Vale★chankotae on January 25th, 2012 10:13 am (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds like a valid option, I might consider it, :)

Thanks for the info and uploads. You might want to try rapidshare? I've seen a couple of other comms switch over, they allow for bigger files than mediafire.

I'll try that one and others to see which one is beeter/faster. Thanks for the suggestion, :)

I always liked using MU to download anime, so now that it's gone, i really don't know what's the next best alternative to use.
mjspicemjspice on January 25th, 2012 05:52 am (UTC)
This whole thing just sucks. I'm praying for MF now.
Moonwitch Iconsmoonwitch on January 25th, 2012 08:51 am (UTC)
Ah, yeah, it really sucks that MU is gone. Sometimes I could only find .avi episodes of older anime on MU and the speed was really good for me. (Second only to MF, which I use for most of the manga I download.)

LOL I know what you mean about the FBI. I (stupidly) mentioned to my dad that I've used MU before and he was all "well when we get a knock on the door I will point them your way" and I was like "Dad, I really don't think the FBI are interested in arresting a chick in Australia for downloading unlicensed fansubbed anime". XD
Vale★chankotae on January 25th, 2012 10:19 am (UTC)
Yeah, I loved MU because the speed was excellent, both for download and for uploads. Also, it was user-friendly, and my files were still all active. MF is good too, except for the size limit thing..

They would have to arrest like half of the people here on LJ, XD
Moonwitch Iconsmoonwitch on January 25th, 2012 01:08 pm (UTC)
Actually, the more I read about it, the more I get a bit nervous. I read in a few places that the FBI will be going through all the content on the servers and following up on the illegal stuff (tracking by IP addresses). I had uploaded some oldish anime and forgot all about it until now, but it's not licensed so I think I'll be okay. I mean, would they really track down every single upload? I think it's more likely they'll go for the US-licensed things, like Hollywood movies and American TV shows and all that.

Kind of skittish about it all now, though. >_>
Vale★chankotae on January 25th, 2012 04:09 pm (UTC)
Hmm, that sounds rather extreme. But yeah, I think they might go after people who shared tons of movies/music. Now I'm wondering if they can arrest people who aren't US residents...

It's great that you are still here and that you keep going on. It's highly appreciated :)
And yes, Mediafire is a good option and rapidshare is not bad as well :>
